Six Viewpoints Exhibition : March 15, 2011-May 15, 2011
The Kevin Milligan Gallery presents five artists who reside in five different Bay Area counties. The quintet brings years of practice and craft to the realization of their medium.
Bill Sala, Surrealist Oil Painter
His surrealist style often incorporates images and themes with Biblical references. He once stated, "As far back as I could remember, I wanted to be an artist, but being born during the Depression, the odds were against me."
Paula Boas, Abstract Acrylic Painting
Her abstract paintings are rooted in architectural and natural landscapes and their respective geometrical and organic forms. “I start with and idea or color or sense, but then improvisation takes over and the paintings move in new and sometimes unexpected directions.”
Sally Cataldo, Still Life/Landscape Watercolor Painting
“I try to capture a sense of mystery.” “The images are there, void of set process which brings spirit and strength.”
Jason Griego, Figurative Sculpture
Using resin and natural pigments Jason creates sculptures with strong emotional content. The near life size winged female sculptures find beauty in raw imperfection.
Ken Holden, Impressionistic Photography
“The images play havoc to visual interpretation because of their intriguing juxtaposition to the living participants.” It is this intrigue that has led me to see beyond the public display to capture the mirrored side of reality and thus express an impressionistic existential point-of-view.”
Kevin Milligan, Interior/Landscape Oil Painting
Kevin’s interior views and landscapes are created from life and are inspired by on site discoveries. His works reference both Early California and Bay Area Figurative artists.
